JJ,thanx.You are the man
adsounds, It should be up and running now. Remember to Right Click and Save As for the .tsi file. You can also download and print the PDF explaining the features.
Traktor Pro is great software with a disgusting amount of MIDI custom features like the modifier.

I’m working on a Custom MIDI Mapper for the DN-HC4500 and Traktor Pro. I was amazed at all the multiple commands the 4500 could carry out in Reflex. I believe Native Instruments is going to send out MIDI commands for the display in the near future. Here are some of things I’ve done and what I’m trying to accomplish.
OK, it took a while but I figured out the LED’s.
Scroll down to the Attachments to download.
For the effects to work, you need to make sure you can see them…
Preferences/ Effects/ FX Panel Mode
FX1 = Chained
FX2 = Chained
Preferences/ Layout Manager/ Enable Show Global Section/
Left = Effect 1
Right = Effect 2
Preferences/ Layout Manager/ Filter + Key + Gain + Cue + Balance
On the GUI, make sure FX1 is set to ON for the left deck and FX2 is set to ON for the right deck.

Under Preferences/ Controller-Manager/ Device Setup/ Device: Delete any Denon DN-HC4500 devices (under edit) before you add this new TSI Mapper
• I AM DONE! Now the Testing Begins. I still need to disable the LED’s when switching layers.
• Almost done with the right side. Advanced Effects and LED’s for Deck B and D are the only things left. I ran out of Modifiers!!!!!
• Screen Display support.
• Left Deck A and C is almost done. Optimized A and C again. Flip + A1/A2 = Start Cue Point (still missing)
• Flip + Effect can now turn off all Effects instead of just 1 at a time (This alone took me 6 hours to reconfigure the modifiers for this)
• Playlist button to change layers (LED’s will now go blank when switching layers)
• FX Chained and FX Advanced are added.
• Flip + Pitch Slider = ±100%. Pitch Bend to reset
• Memo = Duplicates Deck A to Deck C. (both layers). Flip + Memo Duplicates Opposite Deck.
• Time = Effect 1 Chained temporarily ON/ Effect Advanced ON
Jog Mode took another 4 hours to figure out from what I did 6 months ago. It’s now ready for the effects to be added tomorrow. I will need BETA testers. I need your feedback.
I will change the PDF when I am done with everything. It took me 3 evenings just to do 1 side. Hopefully, I can finish up next week.

I right click to save but i can only save as XML document.Tried different way but can not save as .tsi.
Okay, I will zip it for you tomorrow.
We’ll be loocking for it.On the pdf file it seems you covered everything. You seem to be a Traktor long time user, why can you only edit under track collection? Also,I should delete the midi mapping from traktor before louding yours first, right?I am fairly new to mapping that is why the questions.Torq makes mapping so easy but can not get jog wheel to work.
adsounds, zip file is up.
I actually use Serato Scratch LIve. I will use Traktor more once I get a more powerful computer. Plus, I’m waiting for Traktor to support:
• Native Support for Denon’s DN-S3700 spinning platter
• Native Support for Denon’s DN-HC4500 & DN-S3700 display
• Multiple audio cards at once.
• “Elastique Pro” timestretching algorithm for best keylock quality. (Coming in version 1.2)
• Won’t let you delete a mapped cue point. You can only delete the Active Cue Point
I don’t understand your question about editing under track collection. You do not have to delete your MIDI Map before loading this one. You might want to backup your current MIDI Map though. Let me know how this .tsi MIDI mapper works for you.
j,j, tried out your midi mapping and worked great. Thanks for all your support,it seem to cover everything.
JJ, can you explain me how you made the buttons light up (play , cue , loop etc)
I don’t seem to get this one
(detailled is fine by me, as i am not that familiar with these things) (im just a basic mapper) hehe
No problem Tomek… I jest read that Traktor 1.2 beta now sends track info, tempo, and time info to the displays of the Dns 1200 and HC4500 (and should be for the 3700 too).
Here is a simple example for the Play button Green LED for the left deck A. When Traktor Pro loads, it will Flash (CC 76) the Play button on the HC4500 left Deck A Green. When you Play a track, it will turn solid green(CC 74). When you press the Cue button, the Play button LED will turn off (CC 75).
Go to File/ Preferences/ MIDI Mapping (Duplicate is your friend
)
To turn on the play button LED why you press PLAY
1. Add/ Transport/ Play/Pause
2. Under MIDI Learn, select CC 74 (ch 1), and select CH 1 to the right
3. Under Control Configuration, select Interaction Mode = Output, Type of Controller = LED, & Assignment = Deck A
4. LED Options
___Controller Range Min = 0, Max = 0
___Midi-Range Min = 0, Max = 39
To flash the play button LED while a track is PAUSED
1. Add/ Transport/ Play/Pause
2. Under MIDI Learn, select CC 76 (ch 1), and select CH 1 to the right
3. Under Control Configuration, select Interaction Mode = Output, Type of Controller = LED, & Assignment = Deck A
4. LED Options
___Controller Range Min = 0, Max = 0
___Midi-Range Min = 0, Max = 39
To toggle the flash play button LED when you PAUSE the track
___Midi-Range Min = 39, Max = 0 < -----
To turn off the play button LED when you select CUE
1. Add/ Transport/ Cue
2. Under MIDI Learn, select CC 75 (ch 1), and select CH 1 to the right
3. Under Control Configuration, select Interaction Mode = Output, Type of Controller = LED, & Assignment = Deck A
4. LED Options
___Controller Range Min = 0, Max = 0

Hello, I’m very new to my HC4500 and Traktor Pro. So is there a step-by-step way to map everything with my HC4500 and Traktor Pro? Or is there a way to download mappings that will work automatically? Thanks!
Thanks a lot JJ — I will need to spend hours, days … to configure something like you did.
Muchos respect to you !
how long did it take for you to map all? Just out of curiosity
JJ, one thing which you might be able to answer.
When I am using your TSI and use the “flip+pitch slider” to make the song slow down a lot.
When I am bring it up to “minus” … the songs slows down a lot. But when i want to bring it back to normal tempo I get a problem. When I move two “bars on the slider” up to the 0%, the song gets it’s normal temp.
For example: my song has BPM of 140. I can get it down to 70BPM and then slowly up to 104BPM. But from there it jumps to 140BPM again.
Anything u can do abt this? Or what I have to manipulate?
Thanks man
jrizzle, the best place to get started on the HC4500 Traktor Pro Mapping is Traktor Pro’s forums.
There you can find user tips and links such as http://www.traktorbible.com
I actually used Traktor’s PDF and TraktorBible PDF to learn how to MIDI Map. I also looked at previous MIDI Maps made by Denon & NI that is included in the C:UsersJJDocumentsNative InstrumentsTraktorSettingsMIDI Mappings
Thank you Tomek. It took me a little over 4 months working on the MAP 2-3 times a week. I restarted from scratch 4 times. Like programming software, it can get frustrating because you forget where you left off from the previous day and you might have to relearn what you were doing.
In the PDF, you will notice that the [Flip] + [Pitch Slider] = CD DJ Jog is crossed out. Unfortunately, Traktor did not intend a slider to be mapped to a CD Jog command. I hope Traktor changes this in version 1.2. For now, use this only as an effect.
I plan to make: [Flip] + [Pitch Slider] = +/-100% (smooth)
Hey guys, I saw a post on the Denon forums about the 20090328.tsi file for mapping the 3700 for TSP. Is this avaiable somewhere. Just got my pair of 3700′s and would love a tsi map for TSP.
Thanks!
Sorry Enyko. I waiting for Traktor 1.2 before I start working on the TSP mapper for the 3700. Actually, I’m really waiting for NI Traktor to Natively Support the spinning platter for the DN-S3700. Currently, you can only get the platter to pitch bend or scratch while the music is paused. Get on Traktor’s forums and keep requesting support.
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_de/showthread.php?t=81636
Edit*** Looks like you are already on there. Keep requesting!
Thanks for the post!
Any way to make the effects commands work while in advanced mode? The delay is way more controllable while in advanced mode.
I actually prefer the advanced mode. You can control more parameters, but you only have 1 effect.
I will look at changing it to advanced mode when Traktor 1.2 is out.
Hey JJ thanks a lot for the info. I just bought a Denon DN-X500 mixer and was wondering if you had a mapper for that? If not do you know where I can get one? Thanks again!
jrizzle, the DN-X500 is not a MIDI mixer so you will not be able to MAP it.
However, if you have a DN-HC4500, then you can output the X- Control Voltage Output Jack (Crossfader) from the rear DN-X500 mixer into the HC4500 and see if you can MAP it that way.
First, you need to activate the X-Control on your DN-HC4500 by holding down the memo button, go to Preset 9: X-CONT to ON.
Hey Mate!!
Great work again! Have you checked out the new TP release? (1.2.1) It’d be nice to have your mapper with that feature of “part of the display” native support. And, just one more question, I’ve seen a new firmware released by DENON for the HC4500 (Sys1006), which includes new MIDI “messages”, do you think I can upgrade, and keep using your april version? I use this almost every day and I’m a bit afraid of strange things happening with Traktor.
Thanks!!
I haven’t downloaded the new Traktor Pro 1.2.1. Give me a few weeks of testing. I’m afraid I might have to start from scratch on a new TSI mapper because of the new MIDI commands and modifiers. Try both the Traktor and firmware and let me know.
I recommend the new HC4500 firmware SYS 1006. If you run into problems, you can always revert back to 1005.
v1005 is here: http://www.denondj.com/assets/misc/HC4500_V1005.zip
Hey J.J. thanks for all of your help man! My initials are J.J. too! I have been using your TSI mapping and am quickly learning all of the features of Traktor Pro which is a lot. But I’m getting the Beat-gridding and cues and loops down. I have 2 questions though, First, I am using a Denon hc-4500 and a Denon x-500 mixer. But when I try to activate the 4 decks in Traktor I can’t get decks 3 and 4 to produce any sound. And the only way to do this is to go and assign 1 to the left channel, 1 to the right channel, 2 to the left channel and so on. But I do not want my music on one deck to come out of the left channel and the music on another deck to come out of the right channel. I want everything in stereo. Am I doing something wrong? I read on forums that since the hc-4500 is an external sound card then you don’t have to purchase the Audio 8 driver. But is that something that I have to do to listen to all 4 decks in stereo?
Unfortunately, Traktor does not let you share outputs for different decks. Denon ASIO lets you use multiple Denon sound cards. For instance, I could use my 2 DN-S3700′s for Deck A and Deck B, then use the DH-HC4500 for Deck C and Deck D. I’ve heard people use ASIO4All to combine different sound cards for Traktor to use. Try that route if you have another sound card.
If you plan to use 4 stereo outputs professionally, than I definitely recommend purchasing the Audio 8. I’ve heard great things about it.
• Low latency
• 4 stereo outputs
• Great Analog to Digital converter
• Use 1 of the inputs to record your mix
I plan to get the Audio 8 down the road.
JJ
Thanks for all the info you provide . I have a question regarding on how to program the HC4500 keys to open different play lists ( Music catagories) in Traktor Pro. Basically how I have it now is I have to use the mouse to open the playlist and them I can use the wheel to scroll the list to select the song and load.- but I would like to use the controller keys to go into the playlist instead on the mouse.
Also I have a question about lighting the keys. Right now I only gets the ligjhts to come on is if I hit say the play or que buttons . I would like to light the controller . Any suggestions ?
thanks

This is the way you control the playlists in the current tsi file:
• Use the DN-HC4500 Parameter Knob to scroll through the tracks (list).
• Hit the Back button to shift focus to the playlists and scroll through the crates (tree).
• Hit the Back button again to expand/collapse the playlists (tree).
• Press the Parameter knob to select a playlists and shift focus to the tracks (list).
• Select a song with the Parameter Knob and Press the Parameter knob again to load to track.
Controlling the playlist took me the longest to program. The hardest thing to program was the LED lights. I suggest you use the current tsi file to see how everything works.
If your using the latest version of TRAKTRO Pro v1.2.1, the tsi file doesn’t work correctly. For instance, the LED don’t respond correctly. When selecting tracks with the Parameter knob, it skips a few tracks with every turn. I’m having knee surgery tomorrow so I will be out of commission for some time. A new tsi mapper won’t be out for a while. NI needs to fix the display output to the HC4500. The audio glitches like crazy when enabled.
Succes on the knee.
I’m working with the 1006 version with traktor pro 1.2.1
Weird thing is that the right part of the hc4500 works fine. The left side, when i push the playlist button to jump to deck C won’t light up red. I tried to find out why but I’m not there yet.
Do I need to look for a modifier (what number?) and a ‘out’ that is different between deck a and b to find it?
I love the browsing. I love the memo function too. GREAT JOB. I would like a way to do the same thing with a ‘load que’ – a one button push to set the load que.
One more subject : would it be possible to freeze the display? All that track scrolling is getting me nuts. I’m pretty sure the problems (audio glitches) come from the continuously ‘link’ to keep the title and pitch etc up to date. It’s causing a midi traffic jam. It should be updating the title 1 * / 5 seconds or so.
Is it possible to run the latest version, having all the leds work and NO scrolling? I got that result by messing with the output settings in the preference menu for the controller. I don’t know how I did it
Greetings
JJ, i hope your knee get’s better soon.
Can’t wait for a new tsi mapper for traktor pro 1.2.1.
just bought traktor and shit, the function key’s on my dennon HC-4500 don’t relate to the cue points in traktor! Were the programmers of traktor sleeping???
Aaargh….
I have rane serato en VDJ too, they let the function key’s work as cue points. Very logical.
i have never done any midi mapping myself. working on a .tsi file is chinese for me.
no progress yet about a new tsi mapper for traktor pro 1.2(2)?
Bonifacedj, I’m working on a new TSI for the HC4500 with display support. Hopefully, NI Traktor fixes the latency (garbeled sound) with the upcoming *Native zero-configuration support for Denon DN-HC4500 in Traktor Pro 1.2.3.
I temporary fix I’ve heard of is…
“you can use a midi mapping software that you set between Traktor and your unit as workaround. midiox or loopbeone should help you …set traktor midi out to the virtual midi port. in the virtual driver you have to connect the virtual input with your Denon.”
http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97424
Ah great to hear that …i regularly check yr site to see whether u got new TSI ready.
yep, i’m happy too that you are working on an new TSI. When you’re finished i will finally use traktor since in can use the funtion key’s as cue points.
Is there a way to display the song information for Deck C and D when you switch over to those layer using using the button Playlist.
Man, this is freakin’ awesome.
Ran it on 1.2.1 on cruise for 8 hours, everyting is fine. When I came back, the only thing I could see is that when you use the 100% pitch (flip + pitch fader) while the desk is stopped, the player is still going foreward of backward if the fader is in + or in -.
The only thing missing is the chained effect ON/OFF!
Display is working way better than HID mode (no lagging at all).
Can’t wait for the effects on!!!!
Thank you very much JJ!!!
Sergio, the Display output for Deck A and B is only offered under native support from Native Instruments Traktor. You would have to request display output support for Deck C and D from NI. It took two years to get semi-display for Deck A/B on the HC4500, so I don’t think we will ever see it.
djdreamland, I noticed that as well with Flip + Pitch Fader. Unfortunately, that’s the way Traktor’s new Temp Bend (Stepless) works. It’s kind of a cool effect to go into reverse while paused. To cancel it, hit a pitch bend button or Flip + Pitch Fader to 0.
Chained Effects and Advanced Effects work on both sides and on all 4 decks now.
Chained Effects On/Off
• Flip + Effect buttons
• Effect buttons + Back
• Pitch/Key Range + Effect buttons
• Time button Hold = Effect 1 on
Chained Effects Parameters
• Effect button hold + Parameter Knob = Dry/Wet
• Effect button hold + Jog Wheel = Effect Parameter
• Time + Parameter Knob = Dry/Wet
• Time + Jog Wheel = Effect Parameter
• Flip + Jog Wheel = Dry/Wet
• Effect buttons hold + Pitch Bend – = Effect Select Decrease
• Effect buttons + Pitch Bend + = Effect Select Increase
• Time hold + Pitch Bend – = Effect Select Decrease
• Time hold + Pitch Bend + = Effect Select Increase
Advanced Effect On/Off
• Time = Advanced Effect On/Off
Advanced Effect Parameters
• Effect Buttons hold + Jog Wheel = Effect Parameter
• Effect Buttons hold + Param Knob = Dry/Wet
• Flip hold + Effect 1 = Effect Param Reset
• Flip hold + Effect 2 = Effect Button 1
• Flip hold + Effect 3 = Effect Button 2
• Effect 1 hold + Back = Effect Param Reset
• Effect 2 hold + Back = Effect Button 1
• Effect 3 hold + Back = Effect Button 2
• Time + Parameter Knob = Dry/Wet
• Time + Jog Wheel = Effect 1 Parameter
• Effect 1 hold + Pitch Bend – = Effect Select Decrease
• Effect 1 hold + Pitch Bend + = Effect Select Increase
• Time hold + Pitch Bend – = Effect Select Decrease
• Time hold + Pitch Bend + = Effect Select Increase
Mixer Effects
• Pitch/Key Range + Jog Wheel = Key Parameters
• Pitch/Key Range + Param Knob = Filter Parameters
• Pitch/Key Range + Back = Key/Filter Reset
For the display to work, you have to increase your audio cards latency (20ms+). I will post a tutorial on how to disable MIDI out to the DN-HC4500 to improve latency.
I’ve been using your new tsi for 1 week now, (MBP 2.26, Traktor 1.2.1)
Everything is going really fine! My latency is set at 11.5ms, no problems at all, even with the display on.
Thank you very much!
I have a request
I want to use timecode vinyl next to a hc4500 with your .tsi, so I can use my vinyl or only the HC4500.
I need a way to switch between relative, absolute and internal / scratch. I don’t want to use the mouse anymore to do this
I also got a button to calibrate the timecode after a switch between timecode and the HC4500.
Could you advice me? At the moment, I use effect 123 for ‘play – relative – absulute’ but it is not 100% working right.
thx
I will look into it DJSteve.
I’ve done Relative/Internal with Serato Scratch Live but not Traktor.
Can you give a quick tutorial on how to upload your tsi file and get rid of the stock NI version?
Thanks
Also… can I use your tsi if I only use 2 decks?
Thanks
Jerrys, I also sent you an email with the same information.
Under New 12/08/09 save the zip file called DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20091208.
Change the .zip extension to .tsi (Do not unzip) Under Preferences/ Controller-Manager/ Device Setup/ Device: Delete any Denon DN-HC4500 devices (under edit) before you add this new TSI Mapper.
When I’m finished, I will have an updated PDF and Video Tutorial on how to use it.
Holding down Flip plus hitting another button has different uses. For instance: Function Keys are Hot Cues. Flip + Function Keys deletes the Hot Cues. Playlist Changes Decks. Flip + Playlist Ejects Track.
Hi there. I’m trying to use this but am having problems. Im, using the DJ8 sound card and am noticing glitiching as the display is moving. I have to set the latency to somethink like 64ms but still get wierd sound stuttering, can i do anything to sort this? Its tearing my hair out!
geeebeee, please post this problem in Traktor forums. I don’t know how this passed BETA. Every other software out there has better display support and the latency is fine.
“For the display to work, you have to increase your audio cards latency (20ms+). I will post a tutorial on how to disable MIDI out to the DN-HC4500 to improve latency.” However, by disabling the MIDI out, you will not have any display or LED’s on the HC4500.
Do you have a denon hc4500 tsi for 2 decks?
I couldn’t open your tsi by renaming the zip file on my mac. Not sure why so I had to unzip it?
I’m not seeing anything on my LCD ie. title, artist, etc.?
I see I can just hide decks 3 and 4 in preferences.
Still curious about LCD and issue renaming and opening zip file on my mac…
Thank you!
musicbym, after downloading DN-HC4500-4-Decks-20091208.zip
Do not unzip it. Change the last 3 letters from .zip to .tsi so it becomes DN-HC4500-4-Decks-20091208.tsi
Open up Traktor. Under Preferences/ Controller-Manager/ Device Setup/ Device: Delete any Denon DN-HC4500 devices (under edit) before you add this new TSI Mapper. Close Traktor and make sure you plug in and power on the DN-HC4500 before you boot up Traktor again. Then go into Preferences/ Controller-Manager/ Device Setup/ Device. Under Edit, add the new TSI. Locate where you saved DN-HC4500-4-Decks-20091208.tsi and load it.
Let me know how it worked.
JJ, am I blind or is your .tsi file gone? I tried your .tsi I got before your knee problem but I can’t scroll my track collection with the hc4500 since traktor 1.2.3 is installed.
If you can help me with a .tsi file that will also give me a way to switch with timecode vinyl control (relative etc) i will donate for sure.
DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20091208 < ------ Change the .zip extension to .tsi (Do not unzip) Under Preferences/ Controller-Manager/ Device Setup/ Device: Delete any Denon DN-HC4500 devices (under edit) before you add this new TSI Mapper. Let me know how it works.
As soon as I’m done with the TSI mapper, I will do a customized version for you. What button or button combination (example: Flip + Pitch Range = toggle relative/absolute) would you like?
I sold my Traktor license so I don’t have Traktor 1.2.3 to test. They made more MIDI changes to that one. I’m stuck with 1.2.1.
The ultimate custom version would be like this:
2 decks only. No effects needed. (This Wedding DJ don’t need effects
)
Maximize button functions so that I won’t need to push 2 buttons to have one function. Your playlist button function gives me mistakes when I DJ with the DN D4500 cd player, because the displays aren’t active for C&D. I hate the scrolling displays, I rather have NO displays. I don’t want the deck c & d option. I changed your tsi for that reason.
*the eject buttons (your C&D player switch): calibrate deck A/B (timecode)
*effect 123 left and right, tap sync button, jog dial button: may be used to have these functions:
-switch between eternal playback/ scratch control. So the play /cue /cup buttons change to play/ relative / absolute buttons and in a nice way back to ‘internal play’ (I don’t know yet what would be ok, maybe you need the tap button to do this). Maybe the effect 1 button can do this…
At the moment, I kinda got this mapped BUT I have a problem. Once, I had no sound during a dj set when I shifted between playing timecode and HC4500 (midi): play buttons didn’t start my track (I don’t know why) => I had no sound and that is BAD on the dancefloor :-/
The range button makes me choose between ‘que / fade in out / load /grid when I make a quepoint.I like
I don’t use the jog mode button. I only want to search, I don’t want to bend with the jog. Maybe you can use this button for a function for me.
I wanted to go to the beginning of a track easy. Even if it has no que point. flip + que does this for me.
And one more (at this moment): the scrolling between tracks and playlists has a bug:
*I can scroll the left (track collection, playlists) fine. When I go to my tracks at the right (your great enter and back function) the scrolling works a bit buggy. I can sroll 2, 3 or sometimes 4 tracks down and then, one track gets jumped over, and this repeats. I can’t find why this happens.
If you like, and I think it will be the easiest way, I send my .tsi file (your .tsi but a little modded) and you can customize/ debug it? If it gets 100% and you give me some support if needed, tell me what you like to receive and I’ll donate it.
I hope I can get traktor 1.2.1 back…
Thx in advance.
DJ Steve, if you the old tsi mapper (HC4500 4 Decks 20090417.tsi) with Traktor 1.2+, the Parameter knob to scroll the tracks doesn’t work correctly anymore with the new Traktor. You have to use the new mapper (DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20091208.tsi).
I could easily do this for you.
• Effect Button 1 = Absolute Mode
• Effect Button 2 = Internal Mode
• Effect Button 3 = Calibrate Deck
• Eject Button = Eject Track
Unfortunately, scrolling displays is Native NI Traktor Support. There is a way to disable MIDI out, but the LED buttons will not display as well.
