Use the latest HC4500 Software update and the latest ASIO. If you have Windows 7 64-bit, use Denon DJ ASIO 2.1. Otherwise, use ASIO 1.01.
Firmware SYS 1006 (August 2009)

- Create a user account here: http://www.denondj.com/denon-dj-Club.aspxYou will need the serial number of your HC handy.
- When completed, download the v1006 firmware (.zip) to a folder.
- Go to that folder and unzip the file.
- Install the updator application for PC or MAC and launch it.
- Connect DN-HC4500 to computer by USB cable.
- Push and hold these two keys and power up > [Back + Source] on the DN-HC4500.
- Drag and drop only the v1006.bin file into the Denon updator application.
- Hit load in the app.
- Hit execute in the app.
- Wait till the display says complete (about 10-sec).
- Power the DN-HC4500 down and your done.

Low latency meaning using the 4500′s internal soundcard? If I have a Native Instruments Audio 8, should that make a difference?
Can you get 2ms or 3ms audio latency using the Audio 8 and display support for the DN-HC4500? Using XP or Windows 7?
I do not have a Audio 8 so I can’t test it. I’m using the 4500′s sound card.
I also own audio 8 and no latency problems, but the scrolling that never stops is a pain. (in my eyes)
I’m sure the usb sees a traffic jam because the display info is updated too often. Possible?
Sorry, I didn’t give you my laptop specs. Snow Leopard, Macbook Pro (Not Unibody), 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, 1tb hard drive (2x500gb stripe raided internally), 256mb ati 9800 video card. Don’t have an issue with the latency. That’s why I was wondering why you would make another tsi file when you worked so hard on the one you just release before the no display support.
I’m just waiting for the new PDF file, I can’t seem to get all the buttons down. But I REALLY DO APPRECIATE all the hard work you have done to make this Denon 4500 a unbelievable controller to have with Traktor Scratch Pro.
I wouldn’t have bought the scratch pro, but my setup with my Technics 1200′s need some love in my basement. (i’m from the old school, lol)

Someone HELPPPPPPPP,,,I downloaded 10 tsi’s and they all sucked b*lls, this is the best even from the idiots at traktor who ever made this ur supurb.I Love the hot cues the effects its so easily set u saved me lots of time anger and headachs thank you agian, just one question every so often i dont know what i press on the hc4500 and noting works the music still plays and if i press play or cue on the screen the lights work to but none of the buttons work i have to restart both the devices some please advise if this happens at a gig i can kiss my djing THanks agian, btw Denon x900 hc4500 traktor, imac is my setup no audio card

I wanted to mention also that my 4500 locks up also. Is this because of the 1ms latency I have it set at also? Just weird 2 people would have the same issue. Any help would be great. Maybe I will try the older tsi file, see if that changes
About your latency questions, I must say it is actually a USB traffic jam problem. The NI display support is invading the ASIO bandwidth, making impossible to work at low latencies. However, for some reason, under OSX it works just fine with the integrated HC4500 soundcard (OSX does not use ASIO protocol, it has a native audio system that already has low latency). Apparently the crappy display support doesn’t invade the OSX audio protocol.
So, you have 3 choices to use HC4500 + TSP 1.2.5 with low latency:
1- Mac OSX + HC4500 soundcard + JJ’s TSI latest with display support (2010-03-22)
2- Windows + 3rd party soundcard + JJ’s latest TSI with display support (2010 03 22)
3- Windows + HC4500 soundcard + JJ’s TSI w/o display support (the one he is working on)
I am still using TSP 1.1.2 under XP x64, which didn’t have display support yet for my gigs right now. And I also have a TSP 1.2.5 installed in my Windows7 x64 (dual boot), in this one I keep trying stuff, and it seems that the new TSI by this genius here will be the final solution until the NI guys get this solved.
BTW, has anyone experienced this error when installing DENON DJ ASIO 2.10?:
There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I Have a brand new imac so it should have the latest osx and Hc4500 and Traktor pro 1.2.4 and it freezes i changed the latency and still noting it only does it on this mappper helppppp i love this mapper dont want to change it someone please help
@djyan. Do you remember what you are doing when it freezes? It could be stuck in a Modifier. I haven’t tested it that much. On the NO DISPLAY TSI I am working on, I’ve changed a few things. I will end up changing that TSI 1 final time.
Because I want both TSI to be exactly the same, I will end up changing the TSI with DISPLAY support. Then I will work on the PDF. Then a video.
Changes I’ve made:
• Range + Play = Reverse Play (The old Traktor had this as a feature. It took a few hours to get this to work correctly in Traktor Pro)
• Effect 1 = Effect 1 ON/OFF (Now it’s easy to enable/disable an effect)
• Effect 2 = Effect 2 ON/OFF
• Effect 3 = Effect 3 ON/OFF
• Flip + Effect 1 = Jog Mode controls Parameter of Effect 1. Parameter Knob controls Wet/Dry. (You don’t have to worry about holding down an Effect button and turning the Jog Wheel.)
• Flip + Effect 2 = Jog Mode controls Parameter of Effect 2. Parameter Knob controls Wet/Dry.
• Flip + Effect 3 = Jog Mode controls Parameter of Effect 3. Parameter Knob controls Wet/Dry.
While in Effect 1, 2 or 3, the LED will be RED and any button will exit this mode except for Pitch Bend and Pitch Slider.
• Cue + Function Key = Hot Cue Temp Play until released. (since default Hot Cue plays while paused)
• Range + Pitch Slider = Mixer Key Amount (precise Key Adjust)
• Flip + Play = Plays track until Play released (great stutter effect)
• Time = Selects the Next Layout (such as 4 decks or 2 decks)
• Flip + Time = Traktor Full-Screen
• Flip + Playlist = Toggles Playlist Full-Screen
• Flip + Title = Moves Loop back 1 Bar
• Flip + Cont/Single = Moves Loop forward 1 Bar
• Flip + Forward >> = Seamless skip forward 16 Bars (Holding Down now repeats now throughout Track)
• Flip + Back < < = Seamless skip backward 16 Bars (Holding Down now repeats now throughout Track)
@damon_bcn. Thanks for the information. However, I used my SL1 external ASIO sound card with display on the hc4500 and I still ran into latency problems. However, the ASIO for Rane’s SL1 is not user adjustable and I think it’s stuck at 5ms. So with a good ASIO external card, you should be fine. …or get a MAC
I do have a mac its brand spankin new, when i use the Traktor Tsi i dont have a problem with the effects and the hc4500 and traktor freezing, when i use this tsi which i love it freezez when i press to many effects or do more than 3 things at a time i switched it on my pc same problems, this would have been my dream mapper if this glitch would go away

J.J., I will mess around with it tomorrow after I get home from work. Hopefully this is just a conflict somewhere and it can be resolved easily. I’m hoping. I have some gigs coming up and I would hate for this thing to lock up on me. Funny things is, when it did lock up on me those few times (all but one time), I was able to get out of it somehow by press a multitude of buttons, and it unfroze. When it freezes, all buttons will not function. I’m using all 4 decks with my audio 8, TSP, Snow Leopard 10.6.3 with keylock on.
I will fiddle around with it some more tomorrow after work, see if I can make it lock up again. I only played around with it about 5 times since the tsi has been installed. One more thing, i’m using the keyboard mappings, perform, Traktor_Perform_en.tsi with your tsi also. I was wondering if that had anything to do with it. Maybe something in the keyboard mapping is conflicting with it. I need the keyboard mappings also. The older tsi file that you put up never had this problem with the keyboard tsi file on.

Ok, since I have the older tsi file, DN-HC4500-4-Decks-20100318.tsi, i will try using that one instead of this DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20100322.tsi, see if anything you changed within that 4 days made something happen. I will be testing it out thoroughly today after work (about 5-6pm EST) see what I come up with.

I have no idea about he usb logs, i have only been djing for a year so some stuff is still unclear, the tsi with no screen uses low latency and the one with screen support is higher right? The lower the latency the faster your buttons tell the computer what to do? Which one should i use if im running 2 decks untill i get the audio 8…

You have to make from each folder a playlist , problem solved.
Ok, I couldn’t wait till after work. Messing around with it a bit this morning, got it to lock up, but, deck 1 locked up. Had all 4 tracks playing, chained fxs on both decks, deck a+c had fx1 on chained with flanger on, deck b+d had fx 2 on with reverb, when i switched from deck c to a with the playlist button to toggle back into the a deck, i used the Parameters knob to select another track from my playlist. I press down to load the track the track loaded into deck a, but when i pressed down on the play button, it wouldn’t play. the other decks were working but deck a locked up, and the phase meters just kept on cycling from right to left continuously. I couldn’t get out of it. Stooped the rest of the decks, then reloaded a track, and deck a seems to be fine.
Don’t know if any of that helped, but i tried to make alot of stuff go on to get it to lock up.
Off to get ready for work, hopefully that helped out.
Don’t need a USB log, because the console didn’t show anything when that happened. You need a midi event log to see if there is conflicts.
OneCrazyDj: this also happens to me, actually i’ve been experiencing this for the last year and a half, since I have my HC4500. You can un-freeze it by touching the jog wheel when it gets stuck, but is annoying anyway. JJ suggested to remove any extra midi devices in the controller manager, but it didn’t help. I guess it is a bug of the HC4500
It seems like a modifier gets stuck when using the effects. The effects will be changed to be like the NO DISPLAY TSI. View changes in my post above.
I will post the updated NO DISPLAY tomorrow so everyone can test it. Remember, only the left side (Deck A and C) work.

Remember, only the left side (Deck A and C) work. Effect button to turn the FX ON/OFF. Flip + Effect = Adjust Parameters, PM Knob Wet/Dry. While in Effect Parameter mode, Effect LED will be red, < <>> Fast search buttons selects the FX.
The LEDs or display do nto seem to be working with my new MacBook 13″. I have the latest Tpro and firmware for the 4500. Any ideas?

I got the xcontrol mapping but when im using the fador it has to be super close to the midde of the fade to hear the other track any luck??

@djlaz. Try the default HC4500 TSI from Traktor. If you had Windows, I would say uninstall your webcam driver. I don’t know of any known issues on the new Mac O/S. Try the http://www.denondjforums.com
@damon. Thank You. I really like this TSI and I’ve worked very hard on it. No timetable on finishing the right side though. My wife is 9 months pregnant and we are about to have our first child soon. It could take a while. Sorry.
EVERYONE, YES the JOGWHEEL gets stuck when accidentally touched. I believe it has something to do with SCRATCH ON when pressed. Traktor is expecting you to move the JogWheel and for some reason stays in PAUSE mode. If you don’t Scratch or do SpinBacks, I suggest putting it into Jog Bend mode. I will figure out how to fix this. If you use the new TSI with No Display support, you no longer have to hold down an Effect Button + Jog Wheel for the Parameters.
@djyan. Try Flip + SYNC = Master Tempo. Then SYNC again. I still haven’t figured out how Traktor Pro decides to SYNC only certain songs.
For the DN-X900 and DN-HC4500, you can output the X- Control Voltage Output Jack (Crossfader) from the rear DN-X900 mixer into the HC4500 and see if you can MAP it that way.
First, you need to activate the X-Control on your DN-HC4500 by holding down the memo button, go to Preset 9: X-CONT to ON. Sorry, I don’t have a 500 or 900 mixer so I cannot be more help. Try Silvio on the http://www.denondjforums.com .
Thanks JJ – I will never go back to Denon’s TSI after using yours for a year now. Nooo way. You know how much it sucks, don’t you?? Ha ha. But I see with your latest TSI (DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20100322 ) it says there is screen display support and LED support… but both are blank on my Mac. What platform are you using? Does anyone know of a fix? Midipipe perhaps? I would just like my buttons lit so I can see them in very low light, which is what I mostly spin in. Thanks all.
@djlaz, the TSI (DN-HC4500 4 Decks 20100322 ) works just fine on a Mac.
I’m using it right now on my macbook pro with OSX 10.6.3. Screen display on my denon and led support works just fine here.

I FIXED THE JOGWHEEL GETTING STUCK AND FREEZING THE DECK
When Jog Mode is set to Scratch (Orange LED), any pressure on the Jog Wheel put’s the Deck in Scratch ON Mode until the Jog Wheel is released. However, when you hold down the Jog Wheel and hit a Modifier (Range, Flip, Play List, PM Knob Press, Jog Mode or Cue, Play), it freezes the deck with and doesn’t let you do anything until you push the Jog Wheel again. It basically thought you were holding the platter down and wouldn’t let you Play the track.
The way I fixed it was… If any Modifier is pushed, it releases the Scratch On.

It took me all day and night to finish the TSI with No Display. I haven’t fully tested it though. It doesn’t freeze and the Jog Wheel doesn’t get stuck in Scratch ON Mode anymore.

@Boni: well, at least someone is having success…makes me feel a little better. But did you have to do anything special or did it work right away? I am using 10.6.3 as well, on a MacBook, not a MBPro. It’s brand new though. And using Traktor Pro 1.2.5. Any thoughts?

Hey JJ, your latest NO DISPLAY TSI works just fine! me and a team of 4 dj who work with me and all use HC4500+your mappings are considering a serious donation in a few days, your work is fantastic.
Now, a couple of questions in the air, has anyone experienced these 2 things in the newest versions of TP? 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.2.6
- When scrolling looking for a track sometimes it jumps one track, no matter the direction you’re moving (up/down)
- On traktor pro startup the soundcard is ALWAYS shown as offline, i have to change it to another one and then switch back to DENON DJ ASIO
@damon. – For some reason, the right Parameter Knob Turn is different than turning the Parameter Knob on the left on my DN-HC4500. I have to adjust the sensitivity of both differently. Believe me, tweaking this took hours so it either wouldn’t skip a track or stay still while scrolling. I can’t get Traktor to recognize just 1 turn at a time. The TSI with Display support has Native Support so this doesn’t happen.
What side does it skip tracks more on? The right or left?
- As for the soundcard, I might be exporting the audio card settings. I will check on that.
@djlaz, screen display worked right away as far as i remember with traktor pro 1.2.5 en now 1.2.6.
I didn’t have to do anything special. Do you have the latest denon HC4500 firmware? Mayby, as a double check, download the trial version from VDJ. (http://www.virtualdj.com/download/trial.html). Works perfect with our HC4500. Most of the time till now, i’m using VDJ but will switch slowly to traktor. Have to add my cue points first in traktor.
@damon. I am not exporting Audio Device Settings. I am however exporting Controller Mappings, GUI Layout, Favorites, Effect Settings and Other Preferences And Settings. Maybe it’s the Other Preferences that is resetting your audio settings?
I have fixed the Parameter Knob Turn to select the very next track while scrolling. It doesn’t skip a track when scrolling now. Hopefully, I can update this tomorrow if my wife doesn’t go into labor. (The due date is April 28th).

And only use it once every 5 gigs bad.

@djvision. Look at my last post. I explained how to create scrolling through tracks with the Parameter Knob. The way I have mine setup is the PM (Parameter) knob scrolls the Tree List. Back button to expand/collapse the folders/playlists. Hit the PM Knob to switch focus to the Track List. PM Knob now scrolls the Track List. Hold down PM Knob and turn PM to skip 10 tracks at a time. Hold down PM Knob and turn the Jog disc for fast scrolling.
Download my latest TSI (HC4500 4 Decks no display 20100428.zip) and give it a test run.

@damon. Scrolling through tracks doesn’t skip anymore. YAY! Also, Flip + PM Knob rotate doesn’t skip the auto loops anymore either. Pitch/Key + PM Knob rotate doesn’t skip move by 1 bar anymore.

I appreciate all the hard work you have done the past few weeks. You really have skills. JUst not sure what tsi file I should use tonight (Thursday)and Saturday for my parties. I might play it safe with the one you fixed for us. The tsi with the display and no fxs. I’m just DJing, no need to show off. Took a long break from DJing. don’t want anything to go wrong.
Good lucky on your new child if we don’t hear from you. These tsi files should hold us off for a while. I’m in no rush for the fx. I just need a working stable tsi file.
